I Need Your Help! Please!

Curriculum

Joe Ellis wrote, "In education, the curriculum is the means by which students are helped to move toward the objectives of knowledge, attitude, skills, and conduct. It is a combination of information and experiences that will assist the learner to move from where he is toward the objectives." (The Church on Purpose, p. 62)

I am writing a training curriculum that will serve as a tool to designed to move believers toward objectives of knowledge, attitude, skills, and conduct within the local church body. I would like enlist your input and suggestions as I develop the outline for this curriculum.

Let me ask you to respond to the following question:

What would a mature, fully developed and effective Christian:

  • Know
  • Understand
  • Believe
  • Value
  • Be able to do
Please think through these things and respond freely to each category. I would love to hear your ideas and be able to include them in this curriculum.

Well here is my answers for what they're worth.
KNOW: A Christian should now that whatever troubles or pleasures God is always there.

UNDERSTAND: What the Bible say and what you don't understand read it over and over again until you do understand.

BELIEVE: That there is only ONE GOD.

VALUE: Always count your blessing and be grateful for what you do have in life.

BE ABLE TO DO: Pass what you do know to your children and grandchildren. Also to help anyone in need.

Yvonne.

KNOW: the true gospel. Not a gospel of happiness, or a health and wealth gospel. But the gospel of Jesus Christ for salvation.

VALUE: the Word of God

BE ABLE TO DO: clearly articulate the gospel to others.

BELIEVE: in the power of the gospel to change lives of singers and saints.

THese are such important questions! A mature and effective Christian is one that above all is walking with God in a daily relationship, and a humble worshipful relationship. They must KNOW God and know that knowing God requires a lifetime of learning.

They must understand the Bible and the Gospel. Not in a scholarly way, but have a heart understanding.

They must believe the Bible. They must have faith - nothing else counts but faith expressing itself through love Gal 5:6. They must believe in the God of the Bible, and Jesus His Son, and the Holy Spirit.

They must value other people, even their enemies. Even people they disagree with, or don't understand. They must value what Christ values.

Be able to recognize and live out their spiritual giftedness.

There is so much more. A curriculum is a wonderful idea.
