The Importance of Prayer

"Well, you may try to do without Prayer Meetings if you like, but my solemn conviction is that, as these decline, the Spirit of God will depart from you and the preaching of the gospel will be of small account. The Lord will have the prayers of His people to go with the proclamation of His gospel if it is to b the power of God unto salvation; and there is no change in this matter since Paul's day! Jesus Christ is 'the same yesterday, and today, and forever" (Hebrews 13:8)

Charles H. Spurgeon
Sermon 2358, 1894

Times have changed over the years regarding prayer meetings and not for the better, they are hardly heard of today. Such a shame, perhaps the world would be a better place to live in if they still existed.

We are those beggars that Jesus healed in His earthly ministry; blind, dumb, crippled, and full of leprous sores, and before we knew Him, dead. Nothing can be accomplished without His help. He doesn't help unless we ask, confessing our inability, our wretchedness, our blindness. He heals only the sick, not those self-sufficient who think they are rich (yet poor), can see (yet blind), and alive (yet dead). May He bring revival and return us all to fervent praying for healing, and to know Him better. :)
