Who Would Have Thunk It? (Entry #1)

I love the church! One of the many synonyms for the church is "family." Like most families the church has some members that are harder to love than others. At times there are squabbles and problems similar to everyday families.

The church is special! She is unique! The Church is a mirror that reflects the image of the character and nature of God. The church is the Divine plan to display the character of God to the entire universe.

"...to the intent that now the manifold wisdom of God might be made known by the church to the principalities and powers in the heavenly places..." (Ephesians 3:10, NKJV)

Do you know what this means? God determined that the church with all of its festers and foibles would be the vehicle that He would use to "show off" His grand and majestic character to the angels, both good and bad. Who would have thunk it?

Most churches that I have been a part of only resemble dysfunctional families Gregg. When you change and go to another church you are pretty much disowned.

KC Bob - unfortunately you speak the truth for many local congregations. The truly good ones and biblical ones are few and far between. I was part of a good one in Vancouver for 5 years and I now hope to lead by example North Kelso Baptist into being another one of the good and biblical ones.

Even so, the truth remains, the church is God's plan to show off His wisdom to the heavenly beings. Again. who would have thunk it?

I wish you much success in that effort Gregg!

Yvonne - certainly not I!

KC Bob - Thanks so much! Apart from God's grace and the HS's doing, it would be an impossible task!

It seems that the modern church is much like Israel was at the return of Christ, His name is being blasphemed because of them. That being said there is no perfection this side of the grave. I just hope to be a little more perfect every day, through the HS, than I was the day before. Lord willing, if every believer try's to do this, that situation will. change
