Read Well...

[I do not] want to leave the impression that reading many books is important. Reading great books and reading them well is what is important. Meditative reading, reading which stops and ponders, reading which sees deep into reality—that is the kind of reading which profits. That kind of reading should never end for you. Growth and stimulation and transformation will never end for you. You will be in the company of the greatest minds and hearts for the rest of your life, and you will become their peers if you read for understanding and for life.

Great quote!

I need to branch out a bit more in my reading. I've got many books on my list that you've recommended, Gregg. I'm hoping once I finish my 90-Day Bible Challenge (which really is looking like 120 days at this point!) I'm ready to take on some new reads. I recently acquired a copy of Pilgrim's Progress and hope to read it soon.

Happy Wednesday! :o)

Reading IS important to us all , whatever we read we learn something. I don't read as much as I used to but when I do it is a book I want to read.

As always enjoyed your post.

Good quote and wise advice. Reading is a discipline that quickly turns into a pleasure. I love it when you find a book that is difficult to put down. I have a few waiting for me when I visit my children this summer.

I tend to read way too fast. I need to slow down!

Thanks for sharing this great quote from Piper.

Yes, yes! I tend to read fast to get to the "meat" the quickest way. I know I miss so much when I do this...

It's tough to read slowly when you have a couple shelves full of books that you couldn't live without but haven't had a chance to get to yet. They stare at me mockingly, just waiting to be picked up. I can't help it, I love books and just keep buying them! Love the quote, though, Piper is right. Savoring a good book is better than making a quick snack out of it.

Yes, to read and then actually DO something with what you've read! Thanks for this quote, Gregg!
