Six Facts Revealed in the Gospel Part 4

4. The Justice of God is only appeased by the substitutionary sacrifice of Jesus Christ

Image result for substitutionary death of christ"For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, being justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus, whom God set forth as a propitiation by His blood, through faith, to demonstrate His righteousness, because in His forbearance God had passed over sins that were previously committed, to demonstrate at the present time His righteousness, that He might be just, and the justifier of the one who has faith in Jesus." [Romans 3:23-26, NKJV]

Man could never in all of eternity satisfy God. Mystery beyond mysteries, the God-Man, Jesus Christ died and appeased God the Father who had been offended by Sin. Redemption, forgiveness, and satisfaction could not be accomplished or realized without a sacrifice. Every animal from oxen to bird under the old covenant was a visible demonstration that death had to occur. In the Old Testament economy the death of animals could not remove sin, death only covered it for a time. Christ's death satisfied the Father and removed the sin of God's people.

If salvation could have been obtained in any other way, God would not have bruised and crushed His own precious Son whom He loved in order to achieve it. God would not have had to kill His beloved Son.

Christ was the perfect offering, He was the perfect substitute for the elect. The elect could not atone for their own sin, but thanks be to God that Christ could and did.

Thanks Gregg, I know that is true, but you have used a metaphoric explanation concerning the Father and the Son.

In reality it was God Himself who came to earth and went to the cross to sacrifice Himself for our sins.

Paul - No, if I understand the definition of metaphoric and from what I observed on your blog, I did not use a metaphoric explanation. I don't know how the Trinity works, nor can I explain it, but by faith I believe the Scriptures clearly teach that God is one God (Person) manifested in three equal yet separate persons. Again, I don't know how - but God did die on behalf of the elect through or by His unique and beloved Son. I say this not to engage in or invite a debate or discussion about my wording (I have no allusion of convincing you) but to let you know, which I am sure you already knew, where I am coming from or what I do believe. I hope I am not in error in my theology, but here I stand and can do no other. I do appreciate you dropping by and commenting, but make no mistake, it appears we have some different belief's here.

Thanks Gregg, yes, I do understand those things thoroughly.

If you like, please fell free to have a debate about such an important doctrine as the doctrine of God over at my site.
I do not have any restrictions and you can say whatever and however you like it, and if you don't want that, that's OK.
Allthough I think it to be most important for every man of God.
