Excellent quote; I am often reminded of the tax collector who was so broken over his sin, so humbled by God that he would not even raise his eyes heavenward as he cried out for mercy. It is that brokenness that God the Spirit brings about which causes the sinner to fly to Christ for mercy and forgiveness. It is as though it were a life and death situation...and it is. This brokenness causes a sense of urgency within the soul, for eyes that were blind now see and ears that were deaf now hear. The sinner must fly to Christ, they must cry out, for sin is like an abscess to the soul, only the finished work of Christ and the grace of God can lance this abscessed soul and bring about relief. That is how Thomas Watson described it in his most excellent writing, the doctrine of repentance - http://www.gracegems.org/Watson/repentance.htm

Good to see you made the decision to continue blogging!
