Six Facts Revealed in the Gospel Part 5

Image result for it is finished

5. No sinner will be punished whose sins have been atoned for and the justice of God satisfied by the blood of His unique Son.

"He shall see the labor of His soul, and be satisfied. By His knowledge My righteous Servant shall justify many, [not all] for He shall bear their iniquities." [Isaiah 53:11, NKJV] (Parenthesis mine)

"For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord." [Romans 6:23, NKJV]

Someone once said, "The law has no claim on an executed felon." One of my favorite lines from the movie, "The Green Mile" was when Arlen Bitterbuck had been executed, Paul Edgecomb said, "...he's square with the house again." Of course he was not. It seems in all probability Bitterbuck died in his sins, but the idea was that he payed for his crime and could not be charged and penalized for it again.

"Payment God cannot twice demand,
First at my bleeding Surety's hand,
And then again at mine."
(Author unknown)

We, for whom Christ died as an atonement to God are square with the "house." Our sins are forgiven and we will never face the wrath of God ever!

  2. Hi Gregg, I hope that you don't mind me comment on your blog ?

But why then do so many professing Christians die with cancers and plagues of the worst kind if the righteous is not punished ?
In Deuteronomy 28, all the blessings and curses are listed, and sickness is the curse. Please tell me, if the Lord Jesus Christ suffered the curse for the elect, then why do they again have to suffer themselves ?

  3. Paul - Although I have accepted the fact that the Scriptures teach the doctrines of grace, I am not reformed. I do not accept covenant theology. I hold that there is a difference between Israel and the church.

Your reference to Deuteronomy relates to Israel and not to the church, even though your theology requires it to do so. Sin, disease, and suffering is a result of the fall of Adam in the garden and will be with us until we are in the presence of God.

In this economy, the church age, no one, particularly Christians are promised to be either total healed or immune from sickness, disease, deformity, poverty, pain, sorrow, or suffering.

  4. Thanks Gregg.
I'm glad that you have accepted the doctrines of grace, but you need to test every doctrine to it's absolute conclusion so that you and every believer will get the benefit from those doctrines, otherwise they are useless and profit nothing.

If Deuteronomy 8 only relates to natural Israel, then why does spiritual Israel suffers the consequences ?
If the Lord Jesus Christ has suffered on the cross for our transgressions, then why are the Hospitals full of suffering Christians ?
