Don't Tell Anybody That I'm White

Don't Tell Anybody That I'm White

Gregg Metcalf * June 12, 2015

I'm gonna pretend to be black
I promise to have your back
let me be a spokesman for you
I'll take up your fight
together we'll make it right
leave it to me, I know what to do

it don't have to make sense
there's always a pretense
to get just what you want
with the right buzz words
not matter how absurd
I'll fight for all the Lamonts

But wait...

Don't tell anybody that I am white
it could hurt our chances in your fight
you can't be afraid to play the race card
call Jesse Jackson and make some signs
get a bunch of people and form some lines
when its black against white nothin's to hard

So, get on the phone and get out the text
I'll make it up as I go, I'll figure out what's next
we'll yell and scream and stop every car
if we can't swim then nobody can drive
no matter if these causes don't survive
with the right words we can go far

Oh Oh...

Don't tell anybody that I am white
it could hurt our chances in your fight
you can't be afraid to play the race card
call Jesse Jackson and make some signs
get a bunch of people and form some lines
when its black against white nothin's to hard
