The ability that we as believers have to understand biblical or spiritual truths is based solely on the gracious sovereignty of God. The understanding of these truths is indeed a gift from God only available to His elect, His people. Those who are not the people of God do not have any understanding of God's truths because of the natural consequence of their spiritual blindness. The natural consequence of spiritual blindness is unbelief and a failure to understand. Each individual will be judged according to the amount of the light they have been given, the amount of understanding of the light, and the response to that light. The lesson: be careful as to how and what you hear!
(Matthew 13:10; Mark 4:10-25; Luke 8:9-18)
