The Greatest Priority!

“For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received: that Christ died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures.” (1 Corinthians 15:3, ESV)

We are creatures of priorities. We are taught very early in life to prioritize almost anything we can think of. We make lists of events, responsibilities, duties, goals, objectives, and plans. All most always the most important item is placed for on our “lists” is placed at the top.

What can be of more priority or importance than the gospel? If there is anything other than the gospel that we as believers should be most passionate about, I don’t know what it is. The gospel is the only thing that can be of the “first importance” to any of us.

Christ died for our sins! This truth colors every aspect of our lives. This is our world-view. This realization governs every moment of every day. Christ died for our sins. We need to think on this, rejoice in this, and to make it our greatest priority.

  1. I think about this most of the time anymore. How to deliver this message without people running away or getting upset? My Sunday posts are probably seen by few and I know that is the case with most faith blogs. I try to soften up issues that are connected with morality on my Tossing It Out posts and am met with approving agreement or those who will do what they will do. Some will politely pay homage to the teachings of Christ, but do they truly accept it? It's a deceitful world and it's tough not to play with deception to attempt to edge in the Gospel truth to those who don't really want to hear it--or at least they act like they don't.

Priority yes. Persistence yes. How to get the message out there in a world full of conflicting messages? That can be a tough one to deal with.
