My Summer's Reading List

According to the calendar, which obviously has not consulted the Pacific Northwest, the first day of Summer was, June 21, 2011. Summer is typically defined as,

"The usually warmest season of the year, occurring between spring and autumn and constituting June, July, and August in the Northern Hemisphere, or, as calculated astronomically, extending from the summer solstice to the autumnal equinox."

Many husbands are more familiar with the following definition, "The usually busiest season of the husband's year, occurring between daily honey-do lists and outdoor projects as assigned and constituted by the wife during June, July, and August in the normal household, or, as calculated painfully from the summer vacation to the autumnal equinox when bad weather prevents further outdoor projects."

With the awareness that summer (June 21-September 23) is now bearing down upon us, I am seeing a lot more "summer reading lists" from various believers, pastors, and "theologians." As a result, I thought I would share with you my summer reading list. My goal for this summer is to read, digest, and benefit from nine (9) books June 21, 2011 and and September 23, 2011.

1.  The Incredible Christian - A. W. Tozer

2. The Pursuit of God - A. W. Tozer

3.  A Hunger for God - John Piper

4.  God's Passion for His Glory - John Piper

5.   Charity and its Fruits - Jonathan Edwards

6.  John MacArthur: Servant of the Word and Flock - Ian Murray

7.  Life of Charles Hodges - A. A. Hodges

8.  The Old Evangelicalism: Old Truths for a new Awakening - Ian Murray

9.  Concerning the True Care of Souls - Martin Bucer

Was that a hint to your daughters and wife about the 5 volumes of Charnock? ☺
