Seven Functions of a Discipler
Discipling is the effective means to mature growing Christians in order to be obedient to the great commission. This is the only plan for church growth in the Scriptures.
1. Disciplers are crucial in the development of a growing Christian
2. Disciplers are able to pace the growing Christian
3. Disciplers are able to detect the warning signs of "spiritual illness" in the life of a growing Christian
4. Disciplers are able to stimulate spiritual growth in the life of a growing Christian
5. Disciplers are able to see signs of plateauing or stagnation in the life of a Christian
6. Disciplers are able to identify the blind spots that develop in the life of a growing Christian
7. Disciplers are able to be honest and direct with feed back, advice, and criticism in the life of a growing believer

ReplyDeleteTake care.
Yvonne.
Wow...that quite a list to live up to as a discipler. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteAre you going to write a post for each particular point on the list with its scriptural reference? Just curious to where you found all of them. :o)
Happy Wednesday!
There's something to take inventory on, do we possess those qualities? Hmm. Thanks for posting.
ReplyDeleteI needed this today. Thank you Gregg.
ReplyDeleteGood stuff Gregg. I have found that even the one who disciples grows spiritually.
ReplyDeleteGood points, especially #7.
ReplyDeleteDo you recommend one on one discipleship or small groups?
Gregg,
ReplyDeleteYay! Moms are disciplers, too. Helpful list! We'll be discussing this later today. I want our children to understand that they have the privilege of discipling one another, too. Thank you!
