Who Are You Like?

Many Christians have what we might call a "cultural holiness". They adapt to the character and behavior pattern of Christians around them. As the Christian culture around them is more or less holy, so these Christians are more or less holy. But God has not called us to be like those around us. He has called us to be like himself. Holiness is nothing less than conformity to the character of God. --Jerry Bridges

    Gregg, your comment box must not like me anymore! I tried several times to post a comment and it would not post? I even tried using a different browser. I've posted about 30 comments to other blogs today with out a problem?

    Thank you Gregg for this thought provoking post. My goal is to become more and more like my Lord and Savior, but for me this is a slow and sometimes painful journey. But in the end, when the Lord decides that it is time for me to go home, then I will be one in Christ and He will be one in me. Blessings my brother. Lloyd

    I'm not sure if totally agree with Mr. Bridges. Godly men and women can and should be people we pattern our lives after as they follow Christ.

    Gregg, I totally agree with your post. Unfortunately, because the culture of the church is followed instead of the culture of the Kingdom many can be led astray.

    I agree with Bridges - it is all about character. I think that he might be talking about the unwritten holiness rules that many religious groups have - like not doing this or that.. these things usually have absolutely nothing to do with character and usually lead to dark self-righteous places.
