Bees and Benjamins

Regarding riches and worldly wealth:

The bee may suck a little honey from the leaf, but put it in a barrel of honey and it dies. Christians must stave of the world so that it does not get into their heart (Psalm 62:10). Water is useful to the ship and helps it to sail better to the haven, but let the water get into the ship, if it is not pumped out, it drowns the ship. So riches are useful and convenient for our passage. We sail more comfortably with them through the troubles of this world; but if the water gets into the ship, if love of riches gets into the heart, then we are drowned by them (1 Timothy 6:9).

  1. Personally I don't crave for riches and material things as long as I have enough to pay my way I am happy, I suppose it goes back to my childhood, though I never wanted for anything mum always instilled in us wealth is not everything.

    Have a good day.

  3. I love the first sentence of this quote.

The bee may suck a little honey from the leaf, but put it in a barrel of honey and it dies.

I'm pretty sure to much of anything can't be good for you. The one exception being Jesus.

  4. Great quote by Watson. Love of riches in the heart is a dangerous thing. As Proverbs 30:7-9 says:

Two things I ask of you; deny them not to me before I die: Remove far from me falsehood and lying; give me neither poverty nor riches; feed me with the food that is needful for me, lest I be full and deny you and say, "Who is the LORD?" or lest I be poor and steal and profane the name of my God.
