What Are You Relying On?

"I have nothing else to rely upon but the fact that Jesus Christ, the Son of God, lived, died, was buried, rose again, went to heaven, and still lives and pleads for sinners at the right hand of God."

-- C. Spurgeon

  2. dear gregg..c. h. spurgeon has always been a hero of mine.
he was such a soul winner and yet the lord saw fit to take him home at the young age of 58 but it was just as the scripture says
    Proverbs 10:7
"The memory of the just is blessed: but the name of the wicked shall rot."
    Hebrews 11:4
"By faith Abel offered unto God a more excellent sacrifice than Cain, by which he obtained witness that he was righteous, God testifying of his gifts: and by it he being dead yet speaketh."
the internet is just full of c. h. spurgeon, his godly life and so many of his sermons!

yes for sure gregg, when we were saved it was nothing in our hands that we could bring.
the doing was all of the lord and when he said "it is finished" well it was. and now if god is satisfied with that , why aren't we?
well, i for one am satisfied. if it were by good works that i could ever be saved, i am telling you this that i would surely be in hell which would be my just desserts, but thanks to the lord jesus finishing the work and buying my salvation with his own precious blood, than i will be in heaven...

    i liked this post gregg..

so therefore.. i am relying on the lord jesus christ for my place in heaven gregg...............from terry

  3. The object of my faith is "The Gospel" of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ plus or minus nothing.

    Ephesians 2:8-9 (King James Version)

8For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:

9Not of works, lest any man should boast.

  4. If we all held this fundamental truth as our sure foundation for life then the house (which is our life)that we build upon that foundation would be blessed daily on this side of Heaven. The storms of life would be like water on a duck. May the world come to a "saving" knowledge of Jesus Christ. Happy 4th of July weekend to you and yours.

  5. Yvonne - the fundamental truth in Spurgeon's statement is absolute and monumental, yet wonderfully simplistic if you have any questions concerning it I would love to discuss them. Hope your day and week get's better, sorry to hear this past one was such a problem.

Terry - great and true words about Spurgeon, thanks! Glad you liked the post and that you are resting in Him!

OG - the gospel, the power of God unto Salvation! Yes, and by grace alone!!

Brian Ray Todd - Great truths buddy! Happy 4th to you!
