ReplyDeleteMark Cahill says, "Engage the culture, or the culture will engage you." It looks like the culture has been engaging and influencing way too many of our churches.
ReplyDeleteWe need to be out there, sharing our faith, Biblically. There are too many sugar coated, watered down, entertainment "churches" out there, full of false-converts, tares among the wheat.
You know, people have bled and died so that we would have the Bible, printed and available to read. Yet so many won't read it. If they did, we would have far less flase teachings going on because people would be able to recognize that it was not the Word of God.
MacArthur is an awesome preacher, and I would suggest the MacArthur Study Bible, which is available in NKJV and NASB.

ReplyDeleteAl - good to see you again. Yes, the Big Mac is awesome, a gift of God to the church. Don't forget the Mac Study bible is also available or will be soon in the ESV. In addition to the Mac Study Bible I like the ESV study bible.
Some very good points are made on this video. I know I would question some of the theology of some of the music I enjoy, but I don't listen to it for the theology and I would be concerned if some of it were being played during our worship services. I hope McArthur and his ministry are having dialogue with some of the ministries they criticize. I have problems with conflict within the faith if nothing is being done to try to fix the problem.

Tossing It Out
Sometimes dialouge takes place. Remember, we are at times admonished to mark those who are hetetical, divisive, and disruptive and avoid them, with no mention of dialouge as necessary. But I don't disagree if we can help those who want to be helped we should.
ReplyDeleteI am struggling with the concept of not listen to the words, or why is it ok at home but not a church? If it is wrong, bad, ungodly, heretical, unecessary at worship than how can it be otherwise at home.
I too, have some hard core country gospel that I like, the guitars, the fiddles, the steel, the beat, and yet they only excite the flesh and do nothing for the spirit.
Sometimes we think well what is wrong with exciting the flesh? Then I am reminded that the flesh was crucified and put to death with Christ as sinful and unredeemable - why do I want to cater to i?
