Kahlua Chili

I am sorry for the delay in posting this. I had some things in queue that posted in rotation. I hope the wait only makes this Chili tastier to you. I am hoping as you try this that you will let me know what you think.

Kahlua Chili

½ Cup of vegetable oil
2 onions chopped
2lbs of ground beef
4 garlic cloves minced
¼ cup chopped parsley
3 Tbl chili powder
1 Tbl tomato paste
1 1.5 oz can tomatoes, semi drained
1 15 oz can red kideney beans, semi drained
½ cup green pepper chunked
2 tsb salt
1 tsb cayenne pepper
1 tsb cumin powder
1 tsb dried marjoram leaves crushed
1 tsp dried oregano leaves crushed
1 cup Kahlua (more or less to your taste)

In a large pot, heat oil and cook the meat until browned and drain. Add more oil then onions and garlic; sauté until transparent being careful not to burn the garlic.

Add remaining ingredients and mix well. Bring to a boil; reduce heat and simmer, partially covered for around 45 minutes. To thicken if necessary add cornstarch.

Serve with grated cheese, sour cream, onions, and crust bread.

I think I would also "call" for a Cab...

  1. WooHoo, thanks for posting! Sounds good, I've copied it down and will have to try it out. I haven't made chili in quite a while, maybe I'll enter your recipe in the next chili contest at work. But it always seems to come around when I'm busy with other stuff and don't have time to make it. I'll let ya know how it goes if I get it in there next year.

  3. Thanks Gregg. I've printed this out for my next chili excursion (sans Chili brick for this one I think). I used to pick up Kahlua real cheap whenever I crossed over the border and always had some on hand. Now I'm scared to go over to Mexico because of all the violence not to mention just the hassle of going. Oh well, I'll get it here-- I'll have to make some Kahlua fudge when I make the chili.

  4. Al - this is really easy to make. I hope you do take the time to try it. I also hope you do enter in your office contest.

Lisa - can't wait for your report.

Lee - I hope it turns out well for you. Kahlua is a bit spendy here in SW Washington. The wife got the bright idea to pick up a couple of the "tine airline type bottles" at our State owned and run liquor store. they were cheap and just the amount we needed.

    The fudge sounds good also!

Thanks to all who asked for the recipie and made comments.
