John MacArthur - Commenting on the Emerging Church (Part I)
Gospel Driven Disciples introduces a new component: The Sunday Sound-Bite.
These "selections" will be from various men of God commenting on various topics with the goal of provoking a deeper appreciation of our Lord Jesus Christ and to facilitate obedience to the admonition given in II Peter 3:18 – “grow in grace and in the knowledge of our Lord Savior Jesus Christ.”
This first selection is from Dr. John MacArthur, Pastor of Grace Community Church in Panarama City, CA. MacArthur is discussing the critical issues involving the Emergent church movement, as he comments on sound bites from Brian McLaren.

Love Pirate Radio!
ReplyDeleteLove the observation that all the confessions start with what the source of theologgy is. It is not the Koran, the Vedhas, Book of Mormon...it's the Word of God.
"For the better preserving and propagating of the truth, and for the more sure establishment and comfort of the Church against the corruption of the flesh, and the malice of Satan and of the world, to commit the same wholly unto writing; which makes the Holy Scripture to be most necessary; those former ways of God's revealing His will unto His people being now ceased
A little dose of John MacArthur on Sunday morning.
ReplyDeleteThanks Gregg,
Ron
Gregg, I was really struck by the concept that any approach to the purpose of Jesus Christ coming in the flesh, other than to seek and save those that are lost, results in focus on the temporal and "fixing" things here and now. That is so very true. I have been following the church trends and the social gospel. Hank Hanegraeff says it well. Thanks for sharing. I'm looking forward to more.
ReplyDeleteVery interesting. Have a blessed week!! :)
ReplyDeleteAh, John MacArthur on Way Of The Master Radio - good stuff!
ReplyDeleteGreat way to start this new feature!
Vox Day had an interesting entry re: The Emergent Church one time...
ReplyDelete"I have zero interest in the so-called "Emergent Church". I've yet to hear anything interesting or positive about it, and I'm not in the least bit surprised to hear that they're little more than intellectually immature, emotional Episcopalians in the process of moving away from Christianity in favor of a New Age unitarianism" Link
